Origin of the Foundation<\/h1><\/div>

On March 6,\u00a01991<\/strong>, in conjunction with the Annual General Meeting, Lars Erik Lundberg left his post as Chairman of the Board of Directors of L E Lundbergf\u00f6retagen AB. Lars Erik Lundberg founded the company in 1944, and served for many years as CEO and subsequently Chairman of the Board. In his honor, the company set up the Lars Erik Lundberg Scholarship Foundation \u2013 a foundation intended to promote research in areas dear to the heart of Lars Erik Lundberg.<\/p>\n

At the time of its formation, the Foundation\u2019s capital consisted of SEK 10 million donated by L E Lundbergf\u00f6retagen AB. In 1995, Byggnadsfirma Oscar H Nord AB \u2013 one of Lars Erik Lundberg\u2019s wholly owned companies \u2013 donated a further SEK 10 million to the Foundation. This capital has since continued to grow under the Foundation\u2019s management.<\/p>\n

Lars Erik Lundberg <\/strong>was born on July 4, 1920 in Norrk\u00f6ping, where he also spent his childhood and youth. Lars Erik completed his civil engineering degree at the Stockholm Technical Institute. After this, he was briefly employed before starting his own business in Norrk\u00f6ping in 1944. The company was called Byggnadsfirman L E Lundberg and was reconstituted in 1946 to form Byggnads AB L E Lundberg.<\/p>\n

Byggnads AB L E Lundberg\u2019s activities targeted the housing sector. Land was acquired and construction projects were completed, but the company also took on contract work. In the early 1950s, the company\u2019s operations expanded geographically in Central Sweden and this expansion included the formation of AB Katrineholms Husbyggen in 1952.<\/p>\n

At the end of that decade, Lars Erik decided to keep some of the real estate that had been built by his company. This marked the start of the current Lundberg real estate business. In the 1960s, its operations expanded further geographically to include Stockholm, Gothenburg, Malm\u00f6 and other locations. In parallel with this, the operations also expanded to include office buildings and commercial buildings. During the 1960s and 1970s, the company\u2019s property management operations added a large number of new projects. The end of the 1960s also saw the beginning of the era of detached and semi-detached houses, and this type of production also grew to become an important part of the company\u2019s operations during the 1970s.<\/p>\n

When Lars Erik Lundberg left his position as CEO in 1975, the Lundberg company had become one of Sweden\u2019s most successful businesses in the construction and real estate industry.<\/p>\n<\/div>
